Puntacana Ecological Foundation

The Puntacana Ecological Foundation is a non-profit organization through which Puntacana Group creates opportunities to improve the well-being of the inhabitants of Verón – poor resource town – and promotes innovative solutions for the preservation of the ecosystem of the region. Also, through our mission to promote sustainable tourism, we have developed the first Center for Sustainability and Marine Innovation managing numerous environmental impact programs, aligned with our vision to seek an environment where visitors can actively interact with nature.

Our Foundation collaborates with dozens of strategic partners from private, public, and civil society sectors to address social and environmental challenges. As part of the work we carry out, we can highlight the following: diverse training & education focused on health and wellness, restoration of coral reefs, conservation of endangered species, community entrepreneurship, cultural preservation, solid waste management and ecotourism.

Puntacana Group Foundation has received quantifiable international awards for its innovations and commitment to sustainable tourism. These include awards from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Conde Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure and National Geographic Traveler.

“We try to provide concrete solutions to different environmental challenges, particularly in the tourism and development industry, and share those experiences with other sectors of society. Instead of telling companies and society what they can’t do, we create examples of what they can and should try to do. We have worked with solid waste, coral reefs, endangered species, private ecological reserves and many other areas, providing innovative solutions that can inspire others to act ”. Jake Kheel, Vice President of the Fundación Grupo Puntacana.
